Turf - Gold Coast - Gilston - Lawn Care

1. Choose The Right FertiliserSelect a high-grade fertiliser. On the day that your turf is installed, around dusk, sprinkle the fertiliser on your lawn according to the instructions on the packaging. Don’t forget to water it in, to prevent any burning.

Although a higher-grade fertiliser might cost more, it will help your new lawn to establish itself. So, it might save you money in the long run. Ask your turf supplier if you’re not sure which fertiliser to select. They may also have other lawn supplies that can assist you.

2. Water Your New Lawn Often

While your turf is becoming established, it needs to be watered often. So, water it twice each day for the first fortnight after it’s installed. Then, you can drop back to watering once a week.

3. Take Care with Mowing

After about ten days, your lawn should be cut. Then, you should cut it every 7-10 days. Make sure that your mower is not cutting more than a third of the grass blade, to prevent any damage. Use nothing lower than the second highest setting (on a standard mower).

4. Be Aware of Pets

Pets, including all dogs, may have acidic urine. To protect your new lawn turf, try to keep your animals off the grass for the first month after it’s laid. If you can’t do this, you can buy dissolvable ‘rocks’ from your local pet shop, which reduces the chances of their urine burning the grass.

Enjoy your lawn
